Communications

Connecting our schools to the community is a high priority for the East Williston School District. We believe that timely, insightful information helps students, parents and staff maximize their ability to promote student learning, thereby creating an atmosphere of learning for a lifetime.

EAST WILLISTON SCHOOL NEWS

The district’s publication is an 8-page newsletter, published six times a year. The newsletter is delivered to 2,800 addresses in the community. It focuses on highlights of academic and athletic honors as well as teaching and learning.

WEBSITE

The district website, redesigned in March, 2011 is intended to provide up-to-date information on school news and events. Updated daily, it includes photographs, a web-based calendar and contact information. All are encouraged to familiarize themselves with all the website has to offer. The website is a subscription-based site where residents can sign up to receive emails from individual web pages, thereby being informed when updates/changes are made.

CALENDAR

The district calendar and directory is published each summer for the upcoming school year and mailed to residents of the school district community. Filled with photographs, the calendar lists school holidays and events, as well as district policy information. An on-line calendar is updated if changes are made during the school year. If you would like to receive email updates to the calendar, subscribe to the district calendar page.

BLACKBOARD CONNECT COMMUNICATIONS

The district uses a mass communication system, a telephone/email notification system, which is used to contact parents and/or guardians and staff members. This notification system is used when determined that the district or a large portion of the district needs to be notified of an event, emergency or non-emergency. For example, when school will be closed due to inclement weather, a Blackboard Connect communication (telephone call and/or email) is sent out, reaching telephones and/or email addresses of parents and/or guardians. Prior to the beginning of each school year, parents and/or guardians are requested to update their contact information. If your contact information changes during the school year, please contact Rochelle Sroka at 516.333.7529.
