SchoolCenter PictureWelcome to the East Williston School District Science pages.  Many of these pages are still under development, but will come online in the near future.

Science is an important part of the curriculum in the East Williston School District. At the North Side School, students are exposed to a rich curriculum that incorporates earth and space science, life science, and physical science at each grade level.  A highlight of science at North Side is the annual Family Math and Science Night held each fall.

Science instruction at the Willets Road School builds upon the successes created at North Side.  Students in grades 5 and 6 continue to explore the sciences through an integrated approach.  In seventh grade, the curriculum is life science.  This course prepares students for high school science instruction.  Also in seventh grade, students can choose to take an elective course, which during the 2011-2012 school year will be Forensic Science.

SchoolCenter PictureScience at the Wheatley School is based on the NYS Regents curriculum.  There is also a strong AP science curriculum with courses in Biology, Chemistry, Physics B & C, and Psychology.  Students also have the opportunity to take elective courses in psychology, astronomy, and forensics.  The Research program at Wheatley is a foundation of the school.  In this program, students compete in National competitions such as Siemens, Intel, Toshiba, Broadcom, LISEF, LI Science Congress, and many others.  There is also a science club at Wheatley where students compete both locally and nationally.

There are many opportunities for students to enjoy and love science in East Williston. If you have any questions or would like to be a part of any of the programs listed here, please contact Mr. Casamento at casamentod@ewsdonline.org.
