QAR- Question Answer Relationship - QAR is an excellent tool for answering multiple choice and short response questions. QAR is a comprehension strategy that helps students make a plan for finding the answer to a question. Students learn about "In the Text" and "In my Head" questions, which help them determine if they need to look back to the text to find an answer or if they will need to infer. Is the answer going to be "in the text" - stated directly in the passage?  Or is the answer going to be found "in my head" - a more inferential response that will require synthesis? QAR gives students more control of strategy use and promotes strategic thinking during reading.
