Principals Newsletter March 2012

Let me take this opportunity to thank all the staff and parents who participated in this year’s Books Alive program.  This program is particularly special to the North Side community not only because it focuses attention on reading in a fun and exciting manner, but also because it shows the incredible power of collaboration that exists between our staff and parent community.  Our children truly benefit from the combined efforts of all involved.  A special thank you goes to Bonnie Klein and Amy Potter for their tireless work to create and direct this year’s performance.

As we look forward to spring (did we really have winter?) we also move ahead to many other exciting school events.  The spring book fair takes place the week of 3/19-3/23 with a family evening taking place on Thursday March 22^nd along with our annual Hobby & Talent Night.  The second grade is gearing up for their Dr. DeSoto trials which will be held on April 2, 3 & 4.  Kindergarten and fourth grade classes will host in-house science presentations during the week of March 26^th.  The fourth grade will also be visiting the Athletic Performance Center as part of their physical fitness unit on April 2, 3 & 4.

The annual New York State Testing Program will take place in April following our spring recess with the third and fourth graders taking the ELA exam April 17-19 and the Math exam April 25-27.

As you can see there are lots of things going on at North Side!
