I would like to recommend the book Twilight. Twilight is about a vampire who falls in love with a mortal girl. The vampire, Edward, must protect Bella (the mortal girl), from any threats or any harm that could possibly come from any other vampires. Being that Edward only drinks animal blood, gives some chance for Bella and Edward to be together. However Bella's family friend from when she was younger, falls in love with her as well as Edward had, and it is all but complicated in these struggles for love. The author of this book is Stephenie Meyer. The genre could be classified as fantasy, due to the fact that vampires and werewolves are not real. I would consider this a challenging book due to the amount of pages there are, and the difficult vocabulary it contained. There were many words that I picked up from reading this book, and I hope it could help others to learn a few more good vocabulary words as well. What stood out to me while I was reading, was the love between Edward and Bella. They really went through many journeys throughout the book, some even dangerous, and Edward had always been there for Bella through thick and thin. I really enjoyed reading this book, and I hop others will as well. |
Test Test the blog does not seem to be working for some people.... |
The book I read was about Derek Jeter. This book was about how he dreamed of playing for the Yankees. During his amazing journey of becoming a baseball player for the Yankees he had faced challenges and failures. Jeter had to have good batting average and good feilding average in order to get to the major leages. Derek Jeter had great successes and great faliures, but he never gave up and kept trying. The Author's name is Ken Rappoport. This book is a Biography. This book about Derek Jeter i would consider an easy read. In this book what really stood out to me was that Derek Jeter had failed many times and never gave up. He would push him self to the limit untill he got it right. I thought that that really stood out to me the most. |
The series I would recommend to my peers is the Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz. This series is about a 14 year old whose dad dies and he takes over his father's spot as an MI6 agent. Alex encounters many challenges in his various journeys around the world. This extremely young agent defeats numerous bad guys and is very successful at what he does best, being a spy. The genre of this thrilling series is action because it is action-packed and full of twists. I would consider this series a moderate read because it has some difficult words every now and then. Something that stood out to me when I was reading that a teenager could be an elite spy. Also that he can defeat masterminds with nearly training for a couple of months. Thank you! |
The Book that I chose is "The Brooklyn Nine" by Alan Gratz. This book's genre was Historical Fiction. This book is book that has a continuous story in each chapter about a german family. In one chapter it started out with a boy who came from Germany to make money so that is family could come over. In another chapter it's about that boys great great grandaughter and about how she played in a womens baseball team while the war's going on. To me this book is a moderate read. I thought that this a great book, and I think you should try it. |
the book i read was 90 minutes in heaven following the near death experience of a man in a car accident. the book may seem short but its actually pretty long. the book is an Autobiography. this book stood out to me because i was very curious about what happens when we die... |
One of the three books I read was called Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The author is JK Rowling. The genre of the book can be considered a fantasy. It is the fourth book in a series of seven that describes Harry's adventures at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This book explains how Harry is accidentaly placed into the Tri Wizard Tournament. Throughout the tournament Harry faces many dangerous challenges, including a fire breathing dragon. Harry eventually makes it to the final challenge and is awaiting something very dangerous. The evil Voldemort has turned the Tri Wizard Cup into a port key. When Harry touches it, he will be sent to an evil place where Voldemort is waiting. If you read the end of this book, you will find out if Harry can once again slip away from Voldemort.
After reading this book I definitely considered it challenging. So if you are a good reader and enjoy fantasy, this is the book for you. The one part of the book that stood out the most was the epic battle at the end between Harry and Voldemort. |
The book that I read was Dewy the Library Cat by Vicki Myron. The book is about a kitten found in a library book drop and is taken in by the head librarian. The book is mainly about his life as a library cat. This special cat touches the lives of many people in many different ways. I would think that this book is a moderate book. This book's gene is a non-fiction biography because it is the story of a real cat's life. One thing that stood out to me is that people would drive from Massachusetts to Ohio just to pet Dewey. |
One book I read this quarter was The Diary of Anne Frank by Anne Frank. This book is a very sad and touching autobiography. Anne wrote this as a diary during World War 2, over a two year time period stuck in a hidden part of her dads office. Her diary, who she called Kitty was published after her death by her dad, the only survivor. What stood out to me in this book was how undramatic Anne was writing. She never said she was scared or how she thought someone would find her. Another part that stood out to me was her mom. Her mom wasn't nice to her at all. Anne's sister, Margot Frank was her mothers favorite child. Anne even said that her mom said to her "I consider you more of a friend." I recommend this book to anyone that is interested in history or the Holocaust. I consider this book a challenging read. |
One of the books that read for the second quarter ryy7eading log was Marley and Me. The author of this book is John Grogan. The genre of this book is non fiction. I considered this book as a moderate read. This book is touching and very memorable. This book is about two people, John and Jenny, that were beginning their life together. Then they brought home a cute and adorable little labrador retriever puppy. Soon they named him Marley. Marley grew very quickly, he soon was no longer a tiny, little puppy, he was a ninety-seven-pound dog. Marley was like no other dog, he would chew through dry wall, he crashed through dry wall, drooled all over guests, and ate almost anything he could could get his paws on like couches and jewelry. Later on John and Jenny decided to inroll Marley into an obedince school. Well it wasn't a surprise, Marley was expelled. Marley was there when babies finally arrived and when the screams of a seventeen-year-old victim pierced the night. Marley shut down a public beach and managed to land a role in a feature-length movie, always winning hearts as he made a mess of things. The part that stood out to me the most was that in the movie the director rearranged and elimated many of the important and interesting parts of the book. If you chose this book I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. |
The book that I chose for this short summary was The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan. This book is a mystery. I consider this book a moderate read because I get stuck on some words along the way. The Red Pyramid is a book about these kids, Carter and Sadie, who try to find their father. Their father has been taken by one of the Egyptian gods at a British muesem. Now Carter and Sadie have to go on a journey to find their father |

This quarter, I read The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer. This book takes place in the future. It is about a rich leader of a Mexican drug empire, named "El Patron" Matteo Alcran cloning himself into many clones. The clones start from the original person's beginnings and live a life very similar to the original person. The book is the story of Matt, one of his clones, trying to find a regular life in himself. I consider this to be a moderate to challenging read, depending on your reading level. What stood out to me while reading this book was that Spanish vocabulary is frequently used in this story, which made it a more challenging read for me because I take Italian. I think that Spanish students would enjoy this passage more and would understand it more than I did. Happy reading! |
The author's name is John Grisham. The genre of this book is realistic fiction. I considered this book a moderate read. What stood out to me was this book was about a 13 year old kid. I felt being a kid I could relate to this book. A brief summary of this book is a kid becomes interested in a court case and was able to figure out the mystery and affect the verdict. The kid was very smart and he wants to become a lawyer. Both his parents and family members were lawyers. He went to all court hearings. That's how it all started. He got hooked on a murder case. He started asking a lot of questions. That's when he put all the pieces together to figure out the puzzle. I really recommend this book to everyone, especially someone who wants to be a lawyer. |
The book that i am recommending is Diary Of a Wimpy Kid Dog Days by Jeff Kinney. This book is about a boy named Greg Heffley. It is Greg Summer vacation ,and all he wants to do is sit home and play video games. His parents do not like this and try to get him to do different activities outside. Some of these activities were, going to the town pool, and going to a water park. Bad things happen to Greg or his family during this. One thing that stood out to me while i was reading is when Rodrick's ugly and mean pet fish ate Greg's fish. This can compare to me because i had two fish once and one ate the other. This book is a realistic fictional book. It is a moderate read. |
I read Diary of a Wimpy Kid the Ugly Truth by Jeff Kinney during the second quarter. A young boy in his teen years and what he has to deal with. Greg Heffley just lost his best friend, Rowley and also has to deal with some awkward changes physically too. His funny adventures are hilarious. This book is an easy, realistic fiction read. This one chapter of this book really stood out to me. Greg was invited to a party hosted by a really popular kid in school and then his mom to him he couldn't go because he has to go to his uncle's wedding. I can relate to this because the was one time when I was invited to a party I really wanted to go to and have prepared for a while my parents said I couldn't go because of a family conflict. My relation to the main character, Greg, made that part stand out to me. |
My book that im reading is called "West Side Story''. my book is by Louis Sachar. i concider this book as an easy read!! My book was mainly about this kids that go to school and their teacher mrs. Jewls is having a baby. She is the nicest teacher at the school and now she is leaving. The kids are reallly upset because they will miss her. The new teacher mrs. Gorf is really MEANNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If the children do not behave they will be turned into apples and she will slowly eat one children by one apple. i will reconmend this book to people that enjoy reading funny fiction stories. It is a short read but it is very addacting. The first chapter just pulls you into the book so you will have to keep reading. Some things stood out to me. For example, the autor puts a lot of detail in her writing and makes sure every word phrase he uses is clear and discriptive!! Another thing that stood out to me was this one chapter that had adventure such as hiking up the side of the school backyards1 i hope i persuaded you to read this book and i sure hope you will give this book a try!!! |
The book i would recommend is called Theodore Boone Kid Lawyer by John Grisham. The genre is Mystery. This book to me was a moderate challenge. For advanced readers this book would be moderate but for struggling readers this book would be a challengeing read. When i read this book what stood out was the plot. It was amazing that Theo had to make the murdered guilty while an illagal immigrant saw him murder her. It surprises me because it is a HUGE challenge to do that when you are just a child. A short summary is that Theodore Boone is the son of two lawyers. Theodore is also basicly a lawyer too. He knows more than most lawyers and is in a tough situation. I don't want to ruin the book so i will end here. |
The name of my book is, Scorpia. It is written by, Anthony Horowitz. This book is an action and adventure fiction. I would recommend it to anyone. The whole story is about a teenage spy that works for England’s MI6. His name is, Alex Rider. He is in search of an organization that his father used worked for. The organization is called, Scorpia. What really stood out to me in this story was the detail the other put into the story. READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
One of the books that I read during the 2nd quarter was a book called Immortal. It is a novel by Gillian Shields and it is a book of fantasy fiction. It is about a young girl, named Evie Johnson, who is at the age of 16. Her dad is in army out overseas. He grandmother who she has lived with for most of her days is now sick in her nursing home. So, she gets sent to a boarding school…Wyldcliffe Abby School For Young Ladies. At first, Evie is not thrilled about being there and no one is very fond of her either. Later in the story she meets a boy named Sebastian. The plot only thickens from there! The main thing that stood out to me in this book was the details that the author gave the piece. She made me feel as though I had known Evie all my life! For me it was a moderate read but there a some challenging words because some of the story takes place in the past. I think anyone who loves to read about romance and fantasy. I hope you like it! |
