  • A short summary of the book
  • The author's name
  • The genre
  • Whether you considered it an easy, moderate or challenging read.
  • What stood out to you while reading
The book that I recommend is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. This book is about a boy named Santiago. He has the same dream twice in a row and believes that it is magic. This dream told him to go to a specific location and look for treasure. On his journey, he meets many people and sees many different places. He encounters many problems on his way as well. This was a challenging read for me. The genre of this book is realistic fiction. The author's description of events and objects in this book was phenominal. This book is especially good if you are the kind of person who will compare what the narrator goes through to his/her own life.
One book that I recommend is Miles to go by Miley Cyrus. It is an autobiography which I would consider an easy read. It is about Miley Cyrus's life story and what she went through as a kid up until present day. One part that stood out to me while reading was that she was bullied as a kid. I wouldn't of had thought that she got bullied as a kid without reading this book. Her life story kept me at the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading. I definitely recommend this book!
The book I recomend is IQ, Independence Hall by Roland Smith. This book is about two step siblings who are stuck in the middle of the work of government secret agencies. This book's ganre is action. I would consider this book a moderate read. One character stood out to me in this book. He is mysterious. Sometimes you can't figure out if he is bad or good. He comes and goes without warning. This character really makes this book interesting.
The book that I chose to recommend is Miles to go by Miley Cyrus. It is an autobiography that I would consider an easy read. The book is about the life story of Miley Cyrus's life from birth to 17. It talks about the highlights of her life and she wrote it herself. One part that stood out to me is that Miley Cyrus was bullied as a kid. I would have never known that without reading this book. It is an excellent book and I highly recommend it!
The book I read during the 2ed quarter was, Kardashian Confidential, by Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe Kardashian. The genre of this book is a non-fiction biography. I would consider this book to be a moderate read. The story is about all three Kardashian sisters lives. Their childhood, teen years, important events in their lives, and their life today. during the book, they talk about their dad, Robert Kardashian, and how he has really impacted their lives. Also, The sisters talk about how school was, Family traditions, and all of their Dash stores! Finally, The sisters talk about the press, and what it's like being in the public eye. One part in the book that really stood out to me, is the Oj Simpson trial. Their father Robert Kardashian, was Oj's lawyer. Oj was accused of murdering his wife. This trial was out everywhere, and everyone at Khloe's school was talking about it. A lot of kids would always make fun of her, and talked about her because of the trial. But one day, she got so sick of all the name calling, and bullying, she called her older sister Kourtney to help her out. Kourtney was much older then the kids at Khloe's school. So Kourtney went up to the big group of kids who made fun of Khloe, and told them to back off her little sister! Kourtney scared all of the kids who bullied Khloe off. That part of the book really stood out in my mind. This book was a really good book, and if you are a Kardashian fan, I totally recommend it to you!
A book I would recommend is called Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. I would consider this book to be a moderate read, and Beautiful Creatures is a modern fantasy.

In a small town, Gatlin, in South Carolina a teenage boy named Ethan Wate has been dieing to leave this boring town. After having mysterious dreams of a girl he doesn't know, brings him some adventure in his life. The most unbelievable things, after meeting this girl, have been happening to Ethan. With a strange connection between Ethan and Lena, the girl from the dreams, they enter a world bigger then the both of them. Read and fine out what Lena was hiding from Ethan and what they enter during the count down.

What really stood out to me was the connection between Ethan and Lena, by their backgrounds. How all the pieces of the puzzle came together and made a humongous impact in the story. I would of never thought Ethan and Lena's relatives had a strong love connection, even though they were completely different people. Now after years and years, Ethan Wate and Lena Dutchannes meet and have a strong, unexplainable connection like their relatives in the past.
I read the books one through nine in the series "Rangers's Apprentice" by John Flanagan. It is mainly about a Ranger named Will Treaty, who saves a kingdom, fief, or person in every book. It is during the dark ages and Rangers are like the undercover police. Other main characters are Halt and Horace along with other leaders princesses and thieves. What stood out the most in this series was the assortment of fiefs and kingdoms that represent European countries and the belief of magic and the cool things to explain it. I think this is a Moderate read that most kids should try and will enjoy.

One book I read this quarter is called Marley and Me, by John Grogan. This book is a biographical nonfiction book. It is about a man named John, who deals with a lot of problems with his family,(his wife and three kids) but most importantly, he has trouble with his dog, Marley, in many crazy ways. I considered this to be my challenging read because there were a lot of words that I did not understand. One thing that stood out to me was how Marley jumped out of the car when the window was open. I still don't get how a gigantic dog can just jump out of a car out of no where! Marley and Me is one of the sweetest and saddest books I ever read.
The author's name is John Grisham. The genre of this book is realistic fiction. This book would be a moderate read. I started reading this book because I knew that there was a kid in the book and I thought that I could relate to him. What stood out to me was that he was a kid, that was very smart, and that he figures out a big mystery. A brief summary of the book is that there is a boy training to be a lawyer. His parents and family are lawyers too. He goes to all the court hearings. One case comes around and he gets into it. That's when the mystery starts. Then he starts to ask questions. He starts to figure out the mystery. He puts the pieces together to figure out the puzzle. I would recommend this book to anyone. Also anyone that wants to become a lawyer.
The book I am reading is called "Rivals'' by Tim Green and this book is a non-fiction novel. This book is about a twelve year old named Josh who tries to be a pro baseball player so his parents can afford a better house and a better life. I will consider this book as a moderate read and for people who are interested in sport novels. The quote that stood out to me the most is"Believe'' because if Josh didn't believe in himself he wouldn't have gone to Cooperstown which would bring him one step closer to being a pro.
I read the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. The main charactor Katniss is picked for the Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is a every man for themselves death game. Who ever survives wins.Katniss overcomes many challenges and on the way falls in love. I consider this a challenging read. The setting stands out to me. It is very far in the futre. Most peopel struggle for food and water and it is a terribel place. Who would make many kids die for a game type of show.
One of the books I read for second quarter was Geek Magnet by Kieran Scott. This is a moderate realistic fiction book. In the book KJ is mady in love with a boy who doesn't even thogh she exists. Once he finally starts to notice her, her geeky followers become even more annoying. She has to find a way to make them stop and get the guy of her dreams.But... (dramatic pause) can she???

Every Christmas Eve, Kris Kardashian, their mother, throws a Christmas Eve party! Finally, they all talk about what it's like being in the public eye. One part that stood out to me in the story, was the OJ Simpson trial. Oj Simpson was accused of murdering his wife. Robert Kardashian, was OJ's lawyer. The trial was big, and everyone knew about it. Khloe was still in high school, while Kourtney was starting college, and Kim was working. At school, Khloe was being bullied by a big group of kids that didn't like OJ, and believed that he did murder his wife. Khloe was called names every day. Then one day, when Kourtney was visiting home, she told her about how kids were bullying her because of this trial. The next day, Kourtney went to the group of kids, and told them all to back off her little sister! Surprisingly, they all listened. This part of the story really stood out in my mind. This is a really good book! Whoever is a Kardashian fan, I totally recommend it to you!
One of the books that I read for the second quarter reading log was called Marley and Me. The author is John Grogan. The genre of this book is non fiction. I considered Marley and Me as a moderate read. This book is very touching and very memorable. This book is about two people named John and Jenny that were beginning thier life together. One day they brought home a little labrador retriever and soon after named him Marley. Marley grew very quickly into a ninety-seven-pound dog. He was like no other dog, he chewed through dry wall, crashed through screen doors, drooled, and ate nearly everything he could find like couches and even jewelry. Later on, John and Jenny decided to sign Marley up to obedience school. That did no good for Marley, he got expelled. Marley was there when babies finally arrived and when the screams of a seventeen-year-old stabbing victim pierced the night. Marley shut down a public beach and managed to land a role in a feature-length movie, always winning hearts as he made a mess of things. The thing that stood out to me the most was that the movie had rearranged many parts of the book. If you choose this book I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
(period 1)The book, Catch Me If You Can by Frank Abagnale, is a great book. This book was my challenging read because of it's challenging vocabulary. It is an autobiography. This book is about a teenager that wants money so that he can date girls. Since his parents wont give him any money, he starts to do crimes and make illegal checks. To do this and not get caught is very challenging. Therefore he disguised himself by making him have a different jobs like a pilot. One thing that stood out to me in this book was Frank's descriptions of what happened. They were very clear and detailed.
The book i recommend for you all to read is called The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan.

This book is about 3 demigods who go on a quest for the second great phophecy. The three main characters are Piper, Jason, and Leo. They go through a long journey for this quest and try to battle all their conflicts. This book also brings back some characters from the Percy Jackson and The Olympians series also by Rick Riordan.

This new series is a great fantasy book and moderate read. I personally think you should read Percy Jackson and the Olympians before this series just because i got so extremely addicted and it is my favorite series.

I really think the great details and the figuretive language really just made the book extremely additive and i think EVERYONE should read this series.
The author's name is John Grisham. He wrote "Kid Lawyer". The genre of the book is realistic fiction. I considered this book as a moderate read. What stood out to me was that this was about a kid. I felt that this could relate to me. A brief summary of this book is this kid became interested in a court case and was able to figure out the mystery. The kid was very smart and he wanted to be a lawyer. Both his parents and family members were lawyers. He went to all the court hearings. That's how it started. He got hooked on a murder case. He started to ask a lot of questions. That's when he put all the pieces together to figure out the the puzzle. I really recommend this book to everyone, especially to someone who wants to be a lawyer.
The book I reccomend is The Count of Monte Cristo. It is a splendid read. The book is about Edmond Dantes, a man who is a sailor on the Pharoan. He is going to be captain and is going to marry Mercedes when his purser, Monsieur Danglars becomes jealous of him. Fernand, another lover of Mercedes also is jealous of Edmond. They scheme against Edmond to put him in prison for Bonapartist faction. At jail, he is schemed against again by his interrogater. He is put in jail for life. After fourteen years, with a help of an Italian scholar, he escapes prison, and goes out avenge all who have done him wrong as The Count of Monte Cristo. This is a book writen by a French writer by the name of Alexandre Dumas. The book is a classic. I thought is was a pretty challenging read. It is a really sad book and really was touching. What stood out to me the most was the transition and determination of Edmond Dantes to become The Count of Monte Cristo.
The Power Of Half - By, Kevin and Hannah Salwen. I would recommend this story to all readers who love a challenging, historical non-fiction books that changes the perspective of people who do not care enough to donate to others. It is a story about a family that never gave, but only got, and later on changed the lives of many people. The story all began when 14 year old Hannah Salwen, saw a homeless man on the sidewalk and a man in a Mercedes coupe, and states " if that man in the Mercedes coupe had a cheaper car, that homeless man can have a meal". That moment was the turning point in the story that led her family to sell their mansion, donate half of their earnings for charity, and fly to Africa, to donate $80,000 to build grain mills for villages who don't have enough food to survive. A heartbreaking novel with a lot of figurative language and strong vocabulary.

The book I read during 2nd quarter was Geek Magnet by Kieran Scott. This is a moderate realistic fiction book. In the story a girl (KJ) has a major crush on Cameron Richardson. Sadly Cameron doesn’t even know KJ exists. She has to find a way to get rid of the geeks and get the guy. But she is definitely going to need some help from Stephanie (best friend) and Tama, queen of the cool crowd. Can she find a way to ditch the geeks? Will she have the courage to break their hearts? Is Cameron the right guy for her???

When I was reading the description of her father's eyes when he found her at his favorite hang out spot really stood out to me because it made me feel like I was KJ standing there looking up at him.
